A traditional dental implant is a 5 mm-wide titanium post that is screwed into the jaw bone to secure artificial crowns, bridges, or dentures. While traditional implants provide reliable security for these restorations, they also require a very invasive procedure. The invasiveness means that long healing periods and multiple visits are needed. In many cases, the process can span several months.
Mini implants, however, are titanium posts measuring less than 3 millimeters in diameter! They’re also just one piece, while a conventional implant has multiple components. The All-on-4® system is a well-established method that uses traditional implants to anchor dentures securely. While it’s a reliable option, it can also be quite expensive. This is because conventional implants require complex surgery and are made up of multiple components, driving up costs.
